About BRO

Whatever you need, Bro!

Practical, specific, conservative and pro-family. Written for men, women and teenagers who want to be good at their own lives.

Our mission

To help men, women and young people build lives worth being proud of: strong in faith, strong in family, and free.

BRO exists to give you the straight answer and the practical plan: how to earn and keep money, get strong, lead a family, raise good kids, fix what’s broken, and stand firm in what you believe. We stand for traditional values, faith in God, the family as the foundation of a good life, personal responsibility, hard work, and the freedoms that make all of it possible.

We say where we stand, and we label it as our view. We never invent a fact to win an argument, and we never talk down to anyone. Everyone is welcome here, and if you want a different perspective, you are free to find one. Whatever you need, Bro.

What this is

BRO is a daily publication for people who want to be better at the practical parts of life. Money, work, training, style, fatherhood, faith, friendship, and the specific skills nobody sat you down and taught.

Every article is free and always will be. There is no paywall on a single piece, and there is no plan to add one — a publication that paywalls its writing and then asks to be shared has set itself two goals that fight each other.

It covers 80 sections, including two written specifically for 13 to 17 year olds and a full women’s desk that is held to exactly the same standard as the men’s, not a softer one.

Where we stand

Conservative, pro-family, pro-fatherhood, pro-work, pro-responsibility, and openly Christian in the Christian Bro section. We think marriage is worth arguing for, that a father in the house changes the arithmetic for a child, and that discipline is mostly just remembering what you actually want.

We make that case by arguing for things rather than against people. An argument for something can persuade somebody who does not already agree; a piece attacking a group of people only ever preaches to the converted, and costs you everyone else.

Who's behind BRO

BRO.com is owned and run by Todd Reum, a serial entrepreneur in online tech, and his team. The same group owns Names.com, because a great name is where every great business starts.

Before us, the domain belonged to Brent Oxley, the founder of HostGator. We couldn't have asked for a better former owner.

Who writes it

  • BRO Desk

    Newsroom

The BRO newsroom. Every brief is researched from named sources and edited before it runs. Sources are listed on the story.

  • Marcus Vale

    Editor-in-Chief

Twenty years in magazines, most of it deciding what to cut. Writes about work, discipline and the decisions that compound.

  • Ray Okonkwo

    Money & Business

Former commercial banker turned small-business owner. Covers salary, credit, margins and the arithmetic nobody does before signing.

  • Dean Shaw

    Gear & Garage

Reads the warranty, the parts list and the long-term owner reviews before anything else. Trucks, tools, watches, and the cheap version that costs more.

  • Tobias Reed

    Style & Grooming

Spent a decade in menswear retail watching men buy the wrong size. Believes fit is ninety per cent of it and says so weekly.

  • Cal Brennan

    Fitness

Strength coach. Trains fathers, tradesmen and desk workers, which means programmes that survive a bad week.

  • Sam Ortiz

    Dads & Family

Father of three. Writes about presence, discipline and the long game, without pretending any of it's tidy.

  • Josh Halloran

    Christian Bro

Leads a mid-week mens group and has done for eleven years. Writes about faith as a practice rather than a position.

  • Nina Castellan

    BRO for Her

Runs the women-facing desk. Same standard, same tools, written for a different reader — not a softer one.

  • Wes Dunbar

    Country & Skills

Grew up on an acreage and never quite left. Covers trucks, trades, land, and how to do the thing yourself.

  • Ade Fisher

    Young Men

Teaches the trades intake at a community college. Writes the manual he wishes his students arrived with.

How it is paid for

Three things, and all three are visible on the page.

  • BRO+ memberships. $9.99 a month or $79 a year. Today it buys community blog writing and unlimited Ask BRO — never articles. See what it includes.
  • A small number of labelled placements. Every one says “Ad” or “Partner”, and that label is not removable. No third-party ad tech, no tracking pixel, no pop-ups, nothing that moves. The rate card is published.
  • Affiliate links on some product pieces. Marked where they appear. They never change what we recommend, and a bad product is called a bad product regardless of what it pays.

There is no third-party advertising or tracking on this site. Nothing you read here is sold to anybody.

What we will not do

  • Publish anything sexual, suggestive or crude. Absolute line, every section.
  • Run opinion as though it were reporting. Commentary is labelled BRO TAKE, every time.
  • Invent a statistic, a study or a source.
  • Give individual medical, legal or financial advice. We will tell you which professional to ask.
  • Put advertising in the teen sections. None at all, not a filtered subset.
  • Let anyone contact a teenager through this site. There is no messaging surface there.

The full editorial standard is published, because a standard nobody can read is not a standard.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say on the piece that we did. That is the whole policy. vip@bro.com, or use the contact form.
