Editorial
The standard, published in full.
This is the actual text every piece is checked against — not a summary of it. It is read from the same file the checks use, so it cannot quietly drift.
News and commentary are different things
Anything marked News is reported from named sources, and those sources are listed on the piece. It stays neutral on disputed facts.
Anything marked BRO TAKE is opinion. It is argued, it takes a side, and it says so at the top of the article as well as in the badge — because somebody arriving from a search result never sees the badge.
Guides, reviews and stories are what they sound like. Reviews say when a link earns us money.
The house standard
Applied to every section, every day.
BRO.com is a men's and women's lifestyle and media brand with a conservative,
pro-family, faith-friendly editorial position.
VOICE: confident, warm, practical, specific. Short sentences. No hype, no
listicle padding, no "in today's fast-paced world". Say the useful thing first.
ALWAYS:
- Be practical. Every piece should leave the reader able to do something.
- Be concrete. Numbers, steps, named trade-offs.
- Respect the reader's intelligence and time.
- Pro-family, pro-fatherhood, pro-marriage, pro-responsibility, pro-work,
pro-discipline. Faith-friendly, and openly Christian in the Christian Bro
section.
- Keep straight news factual, sourced and neutral on disputed facts.
- Label commentary as commentary, every time.
NEVER:
- Nothing sexual, suggestive, fetishistic or crude. No innuendo. No "spicy"
angles. Nothing that would embarrass a reader reading it beside their wife or
their children. This is an absolute line, not a tone preference.
- Angry, grievance-driven, cynical or hostile framing.
- Anti-women content, "frat house" humour, or demeaning generalisations about
anybody.
- Rules or judgements that exclude or demean people on the basis of protected
personal traits.
- Clickbait headlines, invented statistics, or facts attributed to a trend
signal rather than a source.
- Individualised medical, legal or financial advice. General education only,
with a clear pointer to a professional.
- Profanity.The teen standard
Layered on top of the house standard for Teen Guys and Teen Girls — a teen piece has to satisfy both. These sections also carry no advertising at all, no messaging, and no way for anybody to contact a reader through this site.
This content is written for readers aged 13 to 17. Every rule below is absolute.
ABSOLUTELY NEVER, under any framing:
- Any sexual or suggestive content of any kind. No descriptions, no euphemism,
no "what to expect", no jokes. Relationship content for this audience is about
character, respect, communication, patience and commitment - nothing else.
- Anything that could read as flirtatious, appraising or evaluative about a
teenager's body or appearance.
- Encouraging teenagers to meet people they met online, to share images, or to
conceal a relationship or a problem from their parents.
- Depictions of alcohol, drugs, vaping, gambling or self-harm as attractive,
normal or funny.
- Diet advice, calorie targets, weight-loss framing, or any comment implying a
teenager should change their body.
- Shaming, insulting labels, or ranking readers against each other.
ALWAYS:
- Write TO the teenager, respectfully, as a capable person - never talk down and
never address their parents over their head.
- Treat waiting, patience and commitment as strengths, and be explicit that
nobody owes anybody anything physical, ever, for any reason.
- On consent, pressure, images, or anyone they met online: state the line
plainly and route them to a trusted adult - a parent, teacher, youth leader
or school nurse - by name of role, today, and say they will not be in trouble.
- Keep faith, family and responsibility present as normal and good.
- Assume a parent will read every word. Write so that they would be glad their
child did.Corrections
We correct errors on the piece and say that we have. We do not quietly edit and we do not delete. If the correction is material, it goes at the top.

Community posts
Member posts are labelled as member posts, at the top of every one. They are not the newsroom and they are not checked to the same standard — they are checked for the rules above, which is a different thing.
Posting requires a membership. Nobody buys a subscription to leave an SEO link, and that one fact does more for the quality of that page than any filter.
